How can I get CAPA?

Fusion Health has been established to make the CAPA system (excluding Remote Supervision functionality) available for other pharmacists in an effort to bring the benefits to a wider audience beyond Pharmacy Plus. The system is now complete and an Official Launch will be held in Summer 2004. First installations are currently being planned on a restricted level. The system will be available for use other pharmacies around August 2004. Demonstrations can be held by appointment and for any further information please contact Fusion Health (info@fusionhealth.co.uk).

How much does CAPA cost?

Costs can be provided on request. Fusion Health will provide special incentives for first installations.

How does CAPA compare with other PMR and EPOS systems?

CAPA CANNOT be compared to current PMR or EPoS systems. The system brings together existing functionality and a whole world of new features using the latest technology into the community pharmacy and to provide a tool for the pharmacist to develop future roles. Many systems provide labelling, endorsing, and stock control and in this respect it is not comparable.

Will CAPA help my pharmacy business?

Guaranteed! CAPA introduces efficiencies in a real and demonstrable way that release workload from daily tasks. New services are made simple to administer and measure, and Head Office has the ability to control every aspect of every task and view information in real time to make decisions that make the business profitable.

Who owns the Data?

The data that is generated within a pharmacy using CAPA is transmitted to a central server which is housed in a secure site. The servers can be hosted by Fusion Health or at a company's Head Office. Our role is to provide the storage if required and ensure the network is running. The data belongs solely to the pharmacy (or company), and is accessible only by them or their delegates.

What about security & confidentiality?

CAPA operates over a secure network, which uses "internet type" technology to connect sites together. However, the data does NOT go over public internet. CAPA uses a private network and all the data that is transferred between places is encrypted to a high degree similar to that of NHSnet. In terms of patient confidentiality, the rules that currently apply to the recording of confidential information within pharmacies would also apply to CAPA pharmacies. Patients should always consent to their data being recorded and have the option for opting out.

Can I use CAPA Remote Supervision in the future?

The Remote Supervision elements of CAPA was originally intended for use within Pharmacy Plus. CAPA was intended as a system to allow a pharmacist to leave the premises for short periods of time (e.g. one or two hours during the day) and to allow out of hours services. Our position is that the system be used for this type of purpose. Our talks with RPSGB and DoH continue and subject the appropriate guidance, this functionality may be made available to others in the future.
