Fusion Health
Ltd was established during early 2004 by Pharmacy Plus Ltd
as a separate entity to explore some of commercial aspects of
the CAPA system (excluding Remote
supervision). CAPA was invented by Pharmacy Plus in an
effort to overcome the obstacles which hindered the original
aims of the company - that of pioneering and developing new
services and extending the role of the pharmacist. The use
of IT was first considered by Pharmacy Plus to help maximise
efficiency, processes, control and develop better practice
through clinical governance. Pharmacy Plus also hypothesised
that the ultimate IT system could in theory allow
Supervision of a pharmacy if the system was to place enough
controls at the hand of a pharmacist who is physically
absent from the premises. Ultimately, this solution would
accelerate the development of the role of the pharmacist and
in turn benefit patients, NHS and of course secure improved
pharmacist recruitment and retention by improving
professional fulfilment.
The design of
CAPA began in July 2000 and although the technology that
CAPA now uses was not available at the time, development and
production
continued along with consultations with Department of
Health, RPSGB and research with Nottingham University. The
system is now complete and Beta tested and fully
operational.
The aim of
Fusion Health is to make the CAPA system (excluding Remote
Supervision) available to other
pharmacy companies who may share the same goals and
aspirations as Pharmacy Plus and seek to introduce new
services and efficiencies in practice. Fusion Health not only seeks
to become a leading developer of IT systems within Pharmacy,
but also to act responsibly and appropriately with the
introduction of new working practices such as Medication Review,
Medicines Management and IT integration within
the NHS.
Fusion Health
remains a privately owned company and privately funded.
Fusion Health has no links or ties with Pharmaceutical drug
companies, wholesalers or any other pharmacy organisation.
